Hey welcome to my first feature for this community showcase category! I know I’m going to have a ton of fun with this. I have so many faves from the Gallery that I’m looking forward to checking out, and I’m always happy to check out more!

I came across this build in the Gallery and nostalgia took over.  I had to add it to my game.  So welcome to my very first Sims community build feature: The Christmas Vacation House by Gallery user S1LJE.

The home, of course, is a recreation of the famous Griswold house from the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation starring Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis and John Galecki.

Being a typical late 1980’s American suburban home, I felt like the best place for this lot was a suburb such as Newcrest.   To give it a true American suburb feel, fill the rest of the lots with similar type homes.

Build highlights:

I haven’t actually seen this movie in a while, so I can’t tell you how accurate it is.  Compared to screenshots online, it’s pretty decent!  The beauty of this build, and builds that recreate famous buildings such as this, isn’t necessarily how accurate the architectural features are compared to the actual home shown in the movies;  It’s about capturing the spirit of the home, which I felt this lot did.

The home itself is a traditional clapboard suburban home, prevalent in North America throughout the 70s and 80s.   The actual house itself is part of an exterior set on the Warner Bros studio in Burbank.

The squirrel pot is a nice touch for the stairwell. :D

Favourite Space

I couldn’t decide whether I loved the dining room, all set up for the Griswolds (including the little table at the end for the children!), or the front yard itself.

I added just a few more string lights from the Parenthood pack.

To truly appreciate this build, you’ll have to recall this ridiculous scene from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation:

Do you know of any other builds recreated from other Christmas movies? Feel free to mention it in the comments!
