This house was inspired by Dutch Colonial architecture style and Shaker homes, both styles prominent in New England, America, most built before the mass-manufacturing of architecture features of the Victorian house era – that is to say, when houses and furniture were individually hand-crafted from local materials. A revival of these architecture styles came around in the mid-1900s.

I’ve had this build in my game for a long time now, and that I’ve only recently gotten around to furnishing it completely. The decor style is inspired by Shaker homes, which meant simple, practical design elements, large open concept rooms that could house a large family (or several, if you were a Shaker). The kitchen was a main feature in the Shaker home, as it was the hub of activity and I wanted to create the same for my Sims here.

This build has become one of my favourite homes and while it was tempting to clutter it up, I did as the Shakers do, and kept things simple, using very few packs for sharing on the Gallery.
